Nike SB Skate Shoes and Gear
Nike SB is Nike's skateboarding division, and it's been building shoes with skaters since 2002. Nike had tried to get into skateboarding before without much luck. What changed was listening: with Sandy Bodecker driving it, the SB programme was built around skaters and core skate shops. The first team of Reese Forbes, Danny Supa, Richard Mulder and Gino Iannucci each designed a Dunk Pro Low colourway for the 2002 Colors By series, and the SB Dunk went on to become one of skateboarding's most famous shoes. Picking a Nike SB Shoe
Nike SB shoes aren't all built the same way, so it's worth matching the shoe to how you skate. Here are two very different examples from Quest's range:
- Chron 2: vulcanised construction joins the sole and upper for a flexible, connected feel on the board, which makes it a great everyday skate shoe.
- Zoom Nyjah 4: Nyjah Huston's signature shoe is a more technical build, with Air Zoom cushioning, reinforced mesh, updated traction and a revised tongue.
You'll also find models like the Alleyoop, Code 58 and PS8. Cushioning and sole construction vary, so check each listing.
Signature Shoes and Skaters
Paul Rodriguez helped build Nike SB's signature shoe programme, and Stefan Janoski's 2009 model became one of the most influential skate shoes ever, revisited through versions like the Janoski OG+. Other big names in the Nike SB story include Eric Koston, Grant Taylor, Shane O'Neill and Ishod Wair, and today the brand also backs Yuto Horigome and Rayssa Leal.
Skate Brand Collabs
Nike SB regularly teams up with skate companies, including two brands Quest stocks: Pass~Port, whose hiking-inspired Dunk High dropped in March 2022, and HUF, whose Dunk Low followed in November 2022. Limited releases like these come and go, so you need to keep your eyes open if you want to snag a limited edition collab.
