Before my time in snowboarding, Burton made a two-tongue boot that’s said to be the secret to some of Brushie’s tweaks. 25+ years later and Jake, being the innovator, wanted to revisit the concept because it was so good. Like Jake, I’m a big Speed Zone fan, and moving the laces to the side not only creates a more adjustable side-to-side flex for tweaking but alleviates top foot pressure with less materials between your strap and foot. The two-tongue design provides noticeably more heel hold than most boots I’ve ridden; it also feels really lightweight and fits like a sock. But this boot is extra special because Jake was so passionate about seeing this idea through. Like damn near every product at Burton, Jake was hell-bent on constantly improving the ride. Words by Danny Davis
Product development is in our blood. We love it. Obsessing over every detail, tweaking, testing, and always improving. It’s something we can’t stop thinking about. Rooted in innovation, collaboration, and feedback from riders, we continue the legacy of jake burton carpenter and mine77.
